Lewis-Skelly offered to Chelsea and Manchester United, Arsenal shut the door
An intermediary offered Myles Lewis-Skelly to Chelsea and Manchester United on 11 August, in the wake of Bruno Guimarães's arrival. Both clubs turned it down, one of them considering the price too high. The move did not come from Arsenal: the club have no intention of selling their Hale End-schooled left-back, the player wants to stay, and a contract extension is on the table. A saga born and buried the same day.
Latest development
The Daily Telegraph, carried in Sky Sports' Paper Talk (11 August), report that Chelsea and Manchester United were contacted by an intermediary offering Lewis-Skelly, and that both clubs declined — United rating his valuation too high according to the Sun, with the English press quoting a price around £45m. What is established: the intermediary's approach, confirmed by several journalists including Ben Jacobs and the Guardian, and the two clubs' refusal. What is not: nothing suggests Arsenal initiated any of it. The Athletic write that the player wants to stay and is focused on earning his place in Arteta's side, while Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal will not sell and sounds confident about an extension. Opened and closed inside a single day: kept here as DENIED for the record, without giving it more weight than it deserves.
