Bouaddi: Arsenal open talks with Lille for the Morocco midfielder, a possible Nørgaard successor

Arsenal have opened talks with Lille over defensive midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi (18, Morocco international), a World Cup breakout. Andrea Berta, who reportedly rates him 'world-class' per TeamTalk, has identified him as a long-term successor to Christian Nørgaard, with Ornstein noting midfield reinforcement is Arsenal's chief summer priority. A contested dossier: Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and PSG are also mentioned. High price (straight transfer ~€100m; ~€75-80m with a loan-back), Lille insisting on keeping the player for an extra season.

Latest development

Several outlets converge (Football365, TeamTalk, Sports Mole, Read Arsenal, Arsenal Insider, July 3-7): Berta has opened talks with Lille, with 'inroads made' on the player side. Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly willing to meet Lille's condition — sign Bouaddi then loan him back to Lille for 2026/27 — to bring the fee closer to €75-80m (vs ~€100m for an immediate transfer). Lille president Olivier Létang believes 'very few clubs' can afford him. No formal bid or club-to-club agreement at this stage; an open, contested and expensive dossier. **UPDATE Aug 12**: lead is dead, see the French entry for detail.
