Official: Bruno Guimarães joins Arsenal for £75m

Arsenal confirmed the signing of Bruno Guimarães on Saturday 8 August 2026. The 28-year-old Brazil midfielder, Newcastle's captain, joins for a fixed £75m on a four-year deal with the option of a further season. He takes the number 39 shirt. He is the third summer arrival after Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis, and by some distance the most expensive. The deal took a fortnight to land: two bids turned down at around €70m then €80m, a club-to-club agreement broken by L'Équipe on 31 July, then the medical and agent fees to settle before the announcement. Bruno Guimarães leaves Newcastle after 195 games and 31 goals, having captained them to the 2025 League Cup.
