Official: Fabio Vieira joins Hamburg permanently for around 10 million euros

On loan at Hamburg last season, where he returned 7 goals and 5 assists in 31 games for the promoted side, Fábio Vieira wants to stay there permanently and agreed long-term personal terms with the German club weeks ago. The blockage is elsewhere: Arsenal want around €18m, Hamburg have offered around €10m, and the two clubs speak daily without closing the gap. Sky Sports reported a fresh round of talks on 14 August, and Hamburg's sale of Fábio Baldé to Strasbourg (over €7m) gives them room to improve their bid before the window shuts on 1 September. Arsenal, who paid FC Porto €35m in 2022, are reluctant to book a heavy loss but now say they are willing to negotiate.

Four years on from the 35 million paid to Porto, the exit hurts the books, but it settles a file that had been stuck since May.

   1 September — Florian Plettenberg (Sky Germany) puts the deal at its final stage: medical passed, signing set for Tuesday, a contract until 2030 and a 9 million euro fixed fee with no bonuses, plus a small sell-on percentage for Arsenal.
