Igor Tyjon

Official: Igor Tyjon signs for Arsenal

An 18-year-old striker and England Under-18 international, with three first-team appearances at Blackburn and 17 goal contributions for the Under-21s. Arsenal have tracked him for more than a year: two seven-figure bids were knocked back last summer and a third was rejected in January. The context has changed — Tyjon turned down a professional contract and then a tripled-wage offer, and Blackburn, seeing him enter his final twelve months, have finally signalled a willingness to sell. Alan Nixon, an EFL specialist, puts the hoped-for deal at around £2m plus add-ons. This is a youth-recruitment file, not a first-team reinforcement.

Arsenal have put out the statement on their own site: the 18-year-old forward leaves Blackburn Rovers to join the club, with a squad number already assigned. The fee is the one that has been reported for ten days — around £1m up front, up to £2m in add-ons, plus a sell-on clause for Blackburn. He goes into the Under-21s and will train with the first team at times. The file is closed.

2. 25/08 (evening)medical done, announcement imminent.

Igor Tyjon completed his medical on Friday once the deal with Blackburn Rovers was agreed: £1m up front, up to £2m in add-ons, plus a sell-on clause for the Lancashire club. The 18-year-old striker, an England youth international, had been tracked since last year; Arseblog News expect him to be announced alongside Habeeb Ogunneye.

3. 24/08 (evening)the terms are restated.

The Standard repeat on Monday what we noted on Saturday: the 18-year-old forward has completed his medical, the agreement with Blackburn is worth £1m up front plus £2m in add-ons, and the announcement is expected in the coming days.

The only thing that shifts is context: the three-in-one announcement with Ogunneye and Scanlon will not happen, as the Scanlon deal is not done. Tyjon and Ogunneye go first. The file stays at ACCORD CLUBS until the club statement.
