Geertruida: Arsenal add him to their right-back shortlist, battle with Liverpool looming

The versatile Netherlands full-back at RB Leipzig (25, right-back who impressed on loan at Sunderland last season) is on Arsenal's shortlist to reinforce the right flank after Ben White's sanctioned exit, alongside Ezri Konsa and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Reported fee around €25m (~£21m). Liverpool, who agreed personal terms with him in January before pulling out, remain in the picture — a tug-of-war is taking shape.

1. CaughtOffside (relayed by TeamTalk, July 11) place Arsenal in the hunt for Geertruida, drawn to his versatility and experience, with an accessible fee around €25m (~£21m). The dossier is at shortlist stage — no formal bid. Liverpool hold the historical edge (personal terms agreed in January via Sky Germany/Plettenberg, later abandoned amid the twin Sunderland/Leipzig negotiation). Geertruida is coming off 30 appearances at Sunderland (who qualified for the Europa League). A direct Arsenal-Liverpool battle if the Gunners move.
