Marc Casadó

Casadó joins Deportivo on loan, and the Arsenal link closes

One more name in the final week of the window. The 22-year-old Spanish holding midfielder has slipped down the pecking order under Hansi Flick, and Barcelona have told him he may explore a move, at around €25m. Several English outlets (TeamTalk, Sports Mole) write that Arsenal have tracked him for months, but all of them put Nottingham Forest ahead, with Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli having made contact of their own. No top-tier reporter — not Ornstein, Romano, Sky or the BBC — has picked up the Arsenal link: the entry therefore opens at the floor, as a record of a name doing the rounds, nothing more.

Latest development

  1. 4 September — Casadó has found a club, and it is not Arsenal. Fabrizio Romano reported on 1 September that Barcelona and Deportivo La Coruña had a verbal agreement: a season-long loan with a €30m buy option. The midfielder had turned down offers from Turkey before choosing Galicia. On the Arsenal side, the entry closes the way it opened, with no offer and no club-to-club talks ever reported. It moves to cooled.

New entry, opened on 25/08. What is established: Barcelona are open to letting Casadó go and an offer around €25m would be considered; Nottingham Forest are described as the best placed club. What is not: the interest attributed to Arsenal, which rests only on aggregators quoting one another, with no bid and no club-to-club talks reported. Manchester United, meanwhile, have dropped out after agreeing a deal for Carlos Baleba. We log the file for traceability, at the bottom of the scale.
