VERY RELIABLE

Arsenal agree a deal for Mylo Bernard, a 16-year-old Crystal Palace forward

Arsenal have agreed a deal for Mylo Bernard, a 16-year-old forward from Crystal Palace's academy. He arrives as a free agent with his Selhurst Park contract expired: only a training compensation fee will go to Palace. A centre-forward by trade who can also play wide, he scored six goals in 708 minutes in the U18 Premier League and has four goals and two assists in eight caps for England U16. It is the third move of this kind this summer after Elijah Upson (taken from Tottenham) and Axel Donczew (Cardiff): Andrea Berta keeps stocking Hale End at near-zero cost.

Latest development

The agreement was reported on 11 August by several outlets (Yahoo Sports, GiveMeSport, FootballTransfers, Daily Cannon, CaughtOffside), after a first wave on 3 August describing a breakthrough. What is established: the agreement between player and Arsenal, his free-agent status, and the training compensation due to Palace. What is not: the size of that compensation, the length of the contract, and club confirmation — nothing on arsenal.com at this stage, hence VERY RELIABLE rather than OFFICIAL. At 16 this is a long-term bet, not a first-team addition: he will join the academy.
