Arsenal vs Chelsea 2-1 — Premier League

Havertz hurt his old club badly
We conceded our first goal of the season after a hundred seconds, from a badly defended Reece James free kick, and for a quarter of an hour we wondered what this defence was really worth without Saliba. Then Kai Havertz went to work on his old club. He started with a low shot from twenty yards that Martinez got a hand to without keeping out, and then came that dummy on the Tzolis pass, where he lets the ball run through his legs while Chelsea follows him and Odegaard arrives behind. We dropped deep for the last half hour and the Emirates held its breath until the whistle, but we have now gone ten league games without losing to them.

We are about to find out what this defence is worth
Xabi Alonso has built a side that hands you the ball without a second thought and cuts you open in three passes. Fulham and Brighton went down that way, and nobody here fancies being the third. Morgan Rogers lines up against us too, the player we chased all summer until Chelsea put £117m on the table. We have not lost a league game to them in nine meetings, though that says very little about this Chelsea. And at the back we go again without Saliba, with Arteta leaving his call on Bruno Guimarães and Mosquera to the last session.
